Scotland: Monitoring Community Benefits in Procurement

2012-01-17

Scottish Procurment has launched a new guidance note for Government buyers to assist them to 'measure, record and demonstrate' the effects of having specific clauses regarding community benefits in contracts with the public sector.

'Community benefit clauses are designed to make sure that taxpayers are getting the best possible value for money. They may, for example, promote local economic growth through the recruitment and training opportunities, or improve community cohesion by providing new facilities.'
