PPDA Undertake Study Tour to Ghana

Date: 2009-05-14

Africa - Ghana

Ghana, April 2009 - In the spirit of experiential peer learning and an effort towards strengthening effective networking among public procurement regulatory institutions within the sub-region of Africa, the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) in Ghana hosted a visit from a team of 5 senior officials from the Ugandan Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA). The team chose Ghana for their 3-day study tour because of the reputation the PPA has as a model public procurement regulatory agency in Africa.

Highlights of the visit included a courtesy call on the Minister of Finance & Economic Planning and an introduction to the PPA's Public Procurement Model of Excellence Tool - a home grown monitoring evaluation system developed by the PPA, based on international best practices, and used to assess compliance levels of procurement entities.
