Johannesburg, 17-20 February 2009 – PCDC hosted the third in a series of procurement capacity development workshops. The workshop which brought together high-level public procurement officials from12 countries in Western and Southern Africa (primarily Anglophone countries) looked at approaches to procurement capacity development with specific focus on practical and tangible application, both through the review of cases and from the evidence brought to the workshop from participants.

One of the other important aims of the workshop was to facilitate South-South exchange. Although there was a great spread among the level of the participating countries’ procurement systems, many of the challenges that they face are similar. The workshop gave participants the opportunity to share and address their current challenges with other participants and further strengthen South-South networks.
