The Embassy of Denmark in Bangladesh has decided to align procurement under the two Danida sector programs for Agriculture
and Water & Sanitation by using national systems and is, therefore, supporting a Procurement Capacity Assessment within those two Sectors.
The Embassy recruited consultants to provide support in conducting the assessment. An adaptation of the UNDP approach to capacity development was used to conduct this sector level procurement capacity assessment, therefore Danida requested PCDC to participate
in the mission in order to provide quality assurance and input to the assessment.
Over the coming weeks the PCDC will develop two case studies relating to this mission; one a “methodological” case study, illustrating how the UNDP methodology was adapted to the sector level and the other a “story from the field”, which will exemplify linkages between procure-
ment capacity development and both, Paris Declaration principles, and achieving Millennium Development Goals in Bangladesh. Both case studies will be made available from the PCDC website once published.
