Earlier this year, Simon Power, the New Zealand government Minister for Commerce, launched a far-reaching reform of government procurement across the country.

The reform is ambitious in its intent and is part of a wider government response to improve value for money in the current economic climate. The reform calls for rapid change in government procurement performance and has a strong focus on delivering tangible savings.
