The 2008 Annual Statistical Report on UN Procurement, prepared by UNOPS on behalf of the UN system, is now available for download from the United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM).

The 2008 report has received a makeover to improve its user-friendliness. The analytical content of the report has been strengthened to feature an analysis on procurement from developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The top 20 of these countries are featured on procurement summary sheets. The analysis of procurement with Global Compact suppliers has been continued and a sustainability report is also featured in this edition for the first time.

Thematic Supplement

This year the report includes a thematic supplement that focuses on current issues in procurement. The focus for the 2008 supplement is Sustainable Procurement. It includes an overview of the international debate on the subject, case studies and contributions from practitioners and international experts.  The publication is introduced by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who highlights the key role that procurement has to play in promoting and facilitating sustainable development.

Both reports can be downloaded here.
