With the slogan "Your NO Counts", the 2009 International Anti-Corruption Day presents an opportunity to raise awareness about corruption and its devastating effects on societies worldwide. The 2009 International Day will highlight key tools to fight corruption, such as the United Nations Convention against Corruption. This year the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have developed a joint global campaign, focusing on how corruption impacts education, health, justice, democracy, prosperity and development. Corruption is a crime that can undermine social and economic development in all societies. No country, region or community is immune.
